When to Wash Raw Denim for the First Time

Raw denim is unwashed and untreated — the indigo dye sits on the surface of the yarn, not through it, which is what allows fading to happen unevenly with wear.
We recommend 3–6 months before the first wash, longer if you can manage it. Every crease you put in before that first wash becomes a permanent fade line.
When you do wash it, turn it inside out, use cold water, and skip the dryer.
